Personal information
My name is Vladimir Vassilev and I am 23 years old. I was born and live in the town of
Sofia - the capital of Bulgaria. I like the city I live in very much. In fact I love it. I
miss it very much when I am not in town. It's a beautiful city and the mountain Vitosha is
just a few kilometers away. I go there when I feel the need to get in touch with nature.
I have been involved with computers for the last
10 years or
so.
My first was a Pravets 16, an IBM XT compatible
"computer" (which had the processing power of a hand-held calculator) with two
360K floppies and 512K RAM. It had a monochrome CGA monitor. God, it was very, very slow
even back then in 1990...
Leisure time with my PC
Computers occupy most of my spare time and it's difficult to say whether it is working or
playing time when I'm in front of the computer screen.
I like playing Quake-like games (on a local network with a
bunch of friends) and racing games like:
The Need for Speed
Moto Racer
Monster Truck Madness
I also like real-time strategy games like (in multiplayer
of course):
Warcraft
Starcraft
Age of Empires
Professional interests
I also am professionally occupied with computers. I've been doing various projects in the
fields of desktop publishing, graphics design, web site building and more...
I am skilled in using of the following software products:
Microsoft Word
CorelDRAW
Microsoft FrontPage
Adobe Photoshop
QuarkXPress
Macromedia Director
I also can produce satisfying results with a good many of
other products...
I have also been a hardware consultant for many of my
friends and/or employers. I've been helping them to pick the best available PC or hardware
product on the market that suits their needs. I am also the proud owner of a self-made PC.
I keep myself informed on the latest news via the Internet. This enables me to know the
most about a given product even before it is on the market in the US, let alone in my home
country, Bulgaria.
I'm good in English too...
Presently I am a student at the Sofia University "Kliment Ohridski",
where I am doing my fourth year in "English and American Studies". It's not
difficult to guess that I have a good command of the English language, both written and
spoken. I have also done some technical and other translations for friends
and relatives who were in need of such.
Other interests
Apart from computers and English, I also like listening to music. Actually whenever
I'm working/studying I'm also listening to my favorite bands (in no particular order):

and many others...
I am a big movie fan. Every now and then I go to the cinema
to watch the latest flick. My all time favorites are:
StarWars Trilogy
Schindler's List
Seven
When A Man Loves A Woman
Event Horizon
and many more that I simply can't list here...
My favorite actor is Bruce Willis, but unfortunately there
isn't a single movie with him in the cast that I would want to include in my favorites
list, at least for now...
I am also a mountain biker of some sort, at least I think so.
I'm not a very fast/good rider but I enjoy going out with my bike very much and I spend
much time optimizing and tweaking it to meet my high requirements... :) Occasionally I go
to the mountain Vitosha with some friends for a nice downhill ride...
